Most problems in CivCraft come from a rule you did not know yet. Below are the cases that come up most.
Crafting
My tokens do not make a Badge of Leadership
The nine tokens have to come from the same camp. Each token shows, in grey, the name of the owner of its camp. Tokens carrying a different name, or no name, do not work together. Only put tokens of the same name in the grid. See Founding a civilization.
Nothing comes out of the workbench, though everything is placed right
Check that you are using the CivCraft item and not the normal item that looks the same. Hover over each ingredient and read the name.
- Refined Slime takes T1 SlimeBall, not a normal slimeball.
- Sticky Resin takes T1 Refined Slime, not T1 SlimeBall. Both look like a slimeball.
- A recipe that takes Refined Sugar does not work using plain sugar.
For free placement, put each ingredient in a slot of its own. Two Refined Slime are two slots, not one stack of two.
The game says I miss the technology
Some recipes need a technology of your civ. Without a civ, or without that tech, you cannot make the item. The game names the tech you miss. See Research.
I cannot craft a sword, bow or armour
The normal recipes for those do not exist in CivCraft. Craft CivCraft gear, see Gear.
Where do I find a recipe
In the info book under Crafting Recipes, or on this site in Recipes. If you lost the book, type /res book.
Camp
I cannot set up my Camp anywhere
The spot has to be at least 1000 blocks from spawn, outside the culture of a civ, on flat, solid ground without water, caves or cliffs under it. The camp goes on the 32 by 32 block area in front of you. The game names the reason and the coordinates; look another way or move a good distance.
I lost my free Camp
Type /camp recover, as long as you had not used it yet. Otherwise you have to craft a Camp.
My camp is gone
The campfire went out. It burns 4 Coal per hour and can be stocked for 48 hours at most. Only Coal and Coal Blocks work. /camp info shows how long the fire has left.
The longhouse gives nothing
It only eats Bread, and you have to have bought the upgrade using /camp upgrade buy longhouse. The sifter only processes Cobblestone.
Town and land
The message Cannot claim a town chunk when not in your culture
You are standing outside your culture border. That border is a diamond around the Town Hall or Capitol and at first only reaches 4 chunks, measured straight. Diagonally against your town you quickly fall outside it. Stand straight above, below or beside the middle, or grow your culture using a Monument. The web map shows the border. See Culture and happiness.
The message Can only claim on the edge of town's ownership
The chunk has to touch land the town already owns. Claim outwards, chunk by chunk.
I typed /build but nothing happens
After /build <name> an outline in bedrock appears and you have to type yes in chat. Also check:
- that you are a mayor or assistant;
- that the town treasury can pay the price: your own coins do not count, deposit them using
/town deposit; - that the town is not already building something: it is one structure at a time;
- that your civ has the technology.
The structure faces the wrong way
A structure goes in front of you, its entrance towards you. Check the preview before you type yes: you see the structure itself, with a light block above each door. If it faces the wrong way, type rotate (or r or draai) until it is right, and only then type yes. Once the structure stands, /build demolishnearest is the only way. See Structures.
The farmland on my Farm turned into dirt
Till the dirt again using a hoe; on a Farm that is allowed. Farmland on a Farm no longer dries out and is no longer trampled.
The build takes hours
The build time is the hammers of the structure divided by the hammers of your town per hour. A young town on flat land has few hammers. /build progress shows the state; Mines and hilly land in your culture speed it up.
My town is in debt
The upkeep is paid daily at 20:00 from the treasury. Deposit coins using /town deposit. After 7 days of debt the town is for sale and after 14 days it is deleted.
I cannot invite anyone
The person may not be in a camp: they type /camp leave first. You cannot invite anyone during WarTime, and someone who just left a civ waits 24 hours.
A mayor cannot found a second town
That is right. Let another member of the civ right-click holding the Settler. They become mayor of the new town.
Shops and signs
The sign of the bank or shop does nothing
Structure signs are used by a left-click, holding the right item where that is needed. Right-clicking does nothing.
I cannot buy a horse
The town of the Stable has to use the Horses trade good. Wild horses cannot be ridden.
/eco and /money give do not work
The command is /econ for your balance and /pay <name> <amount> to pay.
Rules that surprise
I cannot enchant
Enchanting tables and anvils do not work. Buy enchants at a Library.
The Nether portal does not work
The Nether and the End are off. You buy Nether materials at a Store.
My animals do not breed
Breeding only works inside a Pasture.
I lost my items after logging out
You logged out within 120 seconds of being hit by someone. A zombie carrying your name stayed behind for 30 seconds, and someone killed it.
Still stuck?
Ask your town in the game using /tc, or the staff on Discord.
